You can call me Joe.

and I’m running to represent us in the Michigan State House. I grew up here. I went to Shrine for grades K-8 before enrolling at Royal Oak Kimball. Following that I attended Wayne State University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in German Studies und ja, ich spreche Deutsch. I had the opportunity to live, work, and study abroad there which opened my eyes to a lot of possibilities . My life then took me to Virginia for a decade where I worked in the mobile industry, an extension of my work experience in Germany, before moving back here in 2020. I have always been interested in state law and policy. As a member of the debate team in high school and college, I honed my ability to deeply analyze policies and their outcomes.

Since I’ve returned to Michigan, I’ve been self employed and have picked up a few new skills. After lockdown I got involved in standup comedy having performed a few times at Mark Ridley’s Comedy Castle so you know I can take the heat. When the districts were redrawn I recognized this district as the epicenter of my life and all that I’ve received. I was forged here and it would be such an honor and privilege to do the hard work of reading the damn bill.

Furthermore, I think I’m the best person for the job because having lived here the majority of my life, I know what long time stakeholders want and will always adhere to their priorities and not party politics. If the sentiment of the district conflicts with a party position, I’ll vote with my constituency because unlike many people who get elected, I’m not worried about my job. Lansing needs me more than I need Lansing.

Now I’m asking for your vote in the Democratic primary on Tuesday August 6th so I can advance to the General Election this November. I want to secure everything we have. Good schools, great parks, one of the best zoos in the nation, top notch medical providers, and a community that is both racially and ethnically diverse. Together, there is no limit to what future we build and the legacy we leave.

Fun Fact!: August 6th falls on the 59th anniversary of the Federal Voting Rights Act becoming law so you know what to do! Vote! Remember to vote absentee or vote early or do like I do and bask in the pleasure of walking to your polling location and exercising your right.
